Long-time Rutherford resident Todd H. Hennessey was born in Jersey City at The Margaret Hague Maternity Hospital, Jersey City Medical Center. He graduated from Wayne Valley High School and attended St. Peter’s College.


Todd’s career began at the Meadowlands Sports Complex, followed by a position at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office. Always working for the betterment of his community, Todd was appointed to the role of Executive Assistant to the Mayor of Jersey City, which has a non-partisan form of government. Todd formalized the constituent services program and was the liaison from the city to the office of former Governor Thomas Kean. Todd subsequently was appointed Executive Assistant to the Hudson County Public Safety Director. He retired from public service as an employee of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, where he had been Chairman of Transit Workers Union Local 2001.


Throughout Todd’s adult life he had business success, becoming the owner and operator of two successful small businesses, including the famous Hoboken Pizza.


Todd has been a long-standing and deeply committed member of the Rutherford community, where he has served on the Rutherford Planning Board for over 10 years.


Politically, as a former resident of Hudson County, Todd was instrumental in the victory in the only time in recent memory, 1985, where four Republicans were elected to the State Assembly. Todd himself was twice a candidate (1993 and 1995) for the office of State Assembly. In Bergen County, Todd is a long-time elected member of the Rutherford Republican County Committee where he has run for office and recruited candidates. He served as Campaign Manager for the Bergen County Republican ticket in 2008.


Proud of his Irish heritage, Todd is an 18-year member of Division 2 of the Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH). Over the years, he has held various roles, past President and Sentinel of AOH New York County Division 2, where he currently serves as Treasurer. Most recently he was honored to have been chosen as New York County Aide from the Ancient Order of Hibernians to the 2026 Grand Marshal of the New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade.


Todd and his wife, Diana, are members of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church parish in Rutherford and are proud parents of three children, Briana, Victoria & Bryan.
