John Dinice has proudly served as a Trustee on the Mahwah Board of Education for nine years where he served as Chair of the Policy Committee and held leadership roles as Second Vice President of the Executive/Planning Committee, in addition to serving on the Facilities and Finance Committee, Technology and Community Relations Committees. He also represented the district as liaison to both the Bergen County School Boards Association and Mahwah Access for All.
Through these roles, John achieved several key accomplishments, including successfully negotiating and executing a five-year Superintendent contract and a four-year teacher contract. He has overseen the development of balanced budgets that safeguard taxpayer resources while enhancing educational offerings, led the completion of a $4 million STEAM building project, and advanced the creation of new policies consistent with NJDOE mandates and state law. He also spearheaded the comprehensive review and update of the district’s policy inventory and developed the Parent Academy to encourage stronger family engagement in student learning.
Committed to professional development, John successfully completed the NJDOE’s three-year mandatory trustee training and attended numerous workshops, conferences, and seminars through the NJDOE and the Bergen County School Boards Association.
Beyond his Board of Education service, John dedicated 36 years to public service as Compliance Manager at the Bergen County Utilities Authority, where he was responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. In that role, he developed and implemented a pollution prevention program and a wastewater reuse program, further demonstrating his commitment to sustainability and community well-being.
John earned a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies from William Paterson University. While in college, he spent summers working for the National Park Service in Yellowstone National Park, an experience that reinforced his passion for environmental stewardship.
John served as an active member of numerous professional and community organizations, including the NJ Water Environment Federation, NJ Industrial Quality Committee, NJ Watershed Alliance, NJ School Boards Association, Bergen County School Boards Association, and Bergen County Environmental Council.
A longtime Mahwah resident, John is married and the proud father of three children.
